Another good haul - Ps. semilanceata and weraroa blue pouches

Braved the wind and the rain this morning to go for a hike up one of my favourite nature trails and it paid off with a good haul of liberty caps/psilocybe semilanceata and bloue pouch fungus/Weraroa novae-zelandiae

The haul (yes, both pictures)

A beast:

And the blue pouches (these were more of a bycatch really):

And another beast: (this would be enough for 2 people!!)

All in all not a bad morning's work

nice find! I love seeing blue pouch finds. They seem to be less rare than I thought they were.
Let me know how they brain-taste, yes?

They're a species from New Zealand, Weraroa novae-zelandiae. Only some what recently have people been experimenting with them, and now we know that they are psychoactive, and are closely related to Psilocybe. It is likely that this species will be reclassified into Psilocybe, which will be kind of tricky, since it is the type species for the genus Weraroa...

here are some sections from one of my earlier posts. they have gills but the cap has completely closed over them right to the stem.

the potency varies but it seems that they are quite strong. That "hog" would be enough for 2 people to feel strong effects if eaten fresh.
They will not retain any potency at all if dried, which leads me to believe they don't have much if any psilocybin in them. they do stain blue which I understand to be a sign of psilocin.
The hallucinogenic effects are noticably different from liberty caps: not as long (3-5 hours at the most, as opposed to 5-6 for liberty caps) and visual effects are more geometric than the usual waviness/organic feel of the other psilocybin mushrooms.
They are related to normal "magic" mushrooms for sure, but how exactly is not clear to me.

I only eat liberty caps, I pass on the knowledge about the pouch eating experiences from what I hear from friends.
Don't know what you mean by "level" of trip, but my friend (who is experienced) ate 2 big ones and said it was almost more than he could handle

If you search this site there is a dosage calculator and it has a link to a thing that talks about the levels of trip like how strong it is level 1 being the lightest and level 5 being the strongest. Check it out its great.

Well, it does have a cap and a stem. It's just secotioid, so the margin of the cap touches the stem, and the spores on the gills do not drop like normal agarics.
