So here is what I have:
Pedro Bridgesii P. Tourch Macrogonus Astophytum asterius oobio kabuto & a nudum Astrophytom capricorne Boke's button Ariocarpus fissuratus
I want a bishops cap, but what else should I get (besides the obvious peyote)? I also have a couple that I may end up with. I will know in a couple of days.

I hear Trichocereus scopulicola is another interesting active you might want to look up. I'm interested in collecting all of the Trichs. Not only actives. I recently found a Trichocereus thelogonus and a local hardware store.
I just started growing from seed T. Peruvianus, T. Panchanoi, T Macrogonus, T. Bridgesii, Loph Williamsii, and Loph Decipiens.
I'm also looking to add to my collection. let me know if you find any other interesting finds.

Obregonia denegrii are cool as well as Pelecyphora strobiliformis and Strombocactus disciformis. Aztekiums are cool but super slow. Lithops and other mesembs are fun as well. Euphorbia obesas are cool succulents that mimic cacti. They are dioecious so you might want to get two of them if you go down that road. I've seen a good amount of cool looking Gymnocalyciums around the local nursery and such. Copiapoas, Turbinicarpus, maybe some Tephrocactus might interest you.
Grafting stock is always good to have too. Myrtillocactus, Pereskiopsis, Selenicereus, Trichocereus, Hylocereus, Opuntias, whatever yanno.
I recently placed an order for a bunch of Blossfeldia liliputana seeds, the smallest cacti species in the world. Those should be interesting.

well if you want some exotic trich's track down some icaros seeds, los gentiles seeds, "GF" seeds, mesa garden pachnoi, maybe some "kimnach" cuts, "lumber jack" cuts, any SS or RS000, or juul hybrids/pure.

I was gonna also suggest you get a good grafting stock. I just got 10 Pereskiopsis. I need to root. But I've seen allot of really nice looking grafts of different Trich's together. Like a Bridgesii to a Peruvianus. They look really neat.
I also found a really nice looking cactus called "Pilosocereus" It's a blue colored with brown spines. When it flowers it's suppose to give berry's. I don't know how edible they would be but the cactus would be a beautiful addition to a beginning garden.

Mostly, yes. I like the ones with shamanistic or cultural relavence. If it is rare in the wild and managable indoors (zone 6) than I will give it a look.
Exactly what Lithops are active btw besides dif and peyote?

Don't forget Lophophora Decipiens. They also have some very beautiful flowers. Mine are only seedlings but I've seen the flowers in different forums. They look really nice.

if you're into the rarities I'd suggest you get onto the Ariocarpus. Smokable phenethylamines FTW !

As PatternOfChaos mentioned, the Opuntia genus has some interesting species, as well as its most well known and culturally important species, Opuntia ficus-indica, for its uses as a food crop.
