Peyote Grafts - Scion Splitting?
    #8307417 - 04/20/08 09:39 AM (7 months, 8 days ago)

In searching the forum, for a friend, I could find only a post or two on this subject -- none of which were very conclusive or insightful.

When grafting Lophophora seedlings to Pereskiopsis, is it a common occurence for the seedling to form small splits around the interface between the scion and stock?

My friend tells me that it doesn't really look to be a condition that's endangering the plant, as the splits callous quickly.

He theorizes that it's probably just because the scion is developing so quickly that a bit of splitting is inevitable. I'd like to agree with him, and also suggested that perhaps it has something to do with sharp temperature fluctuations due to the local weather in his area that he's told me of.

So anyway, just to soothe any anxieties my friend has, do any of the veterans here have insight into this splitting?

Thanks in advance.

Good vibes to yas, and enjoy 4/20!

Take it easier on the watering, if they get too bloated they´ll split themselves.

That's what I figured. :yesnod:

I'll pass the word on up the line to my friend.

Thanks, felix.

Have a nice day, friend. :shineon:
