Funny Smell

I have 12 1/2 pint jars. All 6 Golden Teachers are colonizing wonderfully. The other 6 are Pesas which have not shown any growth. However, they emit a very very faint smell similar to what a penny smells like. I repeat, it is very faint and almost indiscernible. And there are no sign of contams whatsoever. Any one with experience have input on this subject?
Let me clarify. The six Pesas with no growth (good or bad) emit the smell, maybe propane-ish. The GTs are odorless.

No growth is not a good thing, how long ago did you inoculate them?
The smell is most likely from some sort of bacteria.

Day 9 no growth = not a very good sign.

Update:
After being instructed to remove the foil, I did. This was mentioned in another thread where I put up pictures of my Golden Teacher jars for review.
The gassy smell from my Pesa jars was faint, although present. One or two days after removing the foil, however, the gas smell is fading away and two jars showed signs of colonization. The GT's seem to be growing faster as well.
I believe the foil covering the inoculation holes was hampering growth in the GT's and stopping it altogether in the Pesa's. I am very excited to see Pesa growth now.
Thanks to all who have helped me along so far in my discovery of mycology
