Humidity Controller Wiring

I just bought this new humidity controller which I want to use to run a fan and humidifier.  Im really not sure how to wire this up and I really dont want to break it so I was hoping somebody might have some ideas.

I would like to buy some extension cord and cut it in half, and use one half for the input and one for the output, can I do this?

I dont understand why the diagram shows certain crossovers, why isnt there just an input and output?

Does + / - matter in this case?

Thanks!!

the wiring diagram they supply:

You be careful while playing with that AC power.

The extension cord sounds like a very safe wiring choice, I use them for putting longer cords on power tools

Well to me it looks like this device is intended for 220V Aplications. Terminals 11&12 look like controller power with terminal 11 also supplying line voltage to your device. Terminal 10 is the one that the controller switches on and off. Terminal 9 is the path to neutral for the switched device. I think! Without the instruction I'm just flying blind. Is that a controller for some 220v heat/cool unit?

Both the controller and an ultrasonic humidifier cost me about €110 from magicmushrooms.org.

i know nothing about wiring that. i would make a guess and say that if you use the wrong gauge wire you could damage/ignite your electronics. so maybe contact the company you bought it from?

This is kinda what I'm thinking, however I would love to hear from somebody with experience with something like this before I start wiring stuff up.  The manual for this is attached in .pdf, but doesn't give you much more than this diagram.

Thanks!

Contact the mfgr. I was just re-reading this thread and noticed you're a probably not in the US. I know nothing about foreign electronics.

I finally just hacked up an extension cord, did this exactly, and it worked perfect .

So, just curious, but what voltages is that thing running at. Electricity really fascinates me, hence my line of work. Ohh, and how many devices controlled? Two? Series? Parallel?

it is at 220v, that is how we have electricity here in europe.  i have it hooked up with an extension cord with 3 plugs.  I have an ultrasonic humidifier that im going to hook up to it, and im also going to buy a PC fan to hook up.  i am trying to make an automatated small greenhouse 'martha' with this.

Ultra-sonic will be alright, but I'm skeptical about a PC fan. PC fans are pretty much always DC. You would have to use a switching relay. Controlled 220v from your device through the relay coil, and Independent DC power supply ran through the relay's Switched contacts. Should work fine. PM me if you have any questions on relays and wiring.

If you want to save yourself the trouble of the PC power supply

do a google search for aqualight cooling fan kit
it's an AC fan used for cooling aquarium lights

It's a hell of a fan, so far it's shown to be quite water resistant.

I use that, actually the same thing but the one that comes with a sensor, it works great for me.

There is no +/- with AC, since it changes back and forth 50 times per second in Europe.(60 in US)

There IS an input and output with that device.  Terminal 11 is common, with terminal 12 the input, and terminal 10 the output. Terminal 9 is used to supply power to the unit.  Hook it up exactly as shown, or find a local electrician to connect it for you. It's a spst (single pole, single throw) switch.  Should be easy to wire up.

Terminals 1,2 & 3 are for the sensor.  Be sure not to cross those with the 220 volt power source.

I think that I had confused the idea about + / -, and 'live wire' 'neutral wire' or something like this.

I'm still not sure exactly what I will use for the fan, but I think for a PC fan I can buy a transformer plug in to make 12v DC for it from my extension cord I have hooked with the controller.  I want to build some holder for the fan and humidifier, and it will blow fresh wet air inside the greenhouse when the controller turns on.  I am wondering if I should make some filter for the fan (some polyfill?), or if it's ok just to blow normal air into the greenhouse 'martha'?

Thank you everybody for your help to get this wiring correct!  I will post pictures of my greenhouse when its finished
