So I think I want to use this recipe
Potato Dextrose (Yeast-extract) Agar (PD(Y)A)
broth from boiling 150 grams sliced potatoes
in 500ml water for 30 minutes(add water to 500ml)
(You can use 5 g of instant potato flakes instead)
9 g agar agar
7 grams dextrose( = glucose, or 10 ml honey or corn syrup )
1 gram brewers yeast or yeast-extract (optional)
My question is if I don't have a scale how much is 150grams of potatoes. I can weight it on the scale at the store but it's not going to be in grams. Also I have agar agar but need to know a American measurement to mix. Any help would be great. Thanks

I got the Potatoes measurement taken car of but I don't know much 9 grams of agar is or 10 grams of corn syrup are because they have different densities... any help? Looking for something like... 1/2 a tea spoon or something.
Also I picked up a nice thick favor injector from the grocery and I am think of using it to extract mycelium from the LC's. Has anyone used it? IF I pressure cook it to sterilize it will it melt?

I'm not sure about how to measure the agar without a scale, but as far as the corn syrup goes, use a 10cc syringe. 10ml's is the same as 10cc's. Fill the syringe with corn syrup and you have the correct amount.

If you don't have scales or empty syringes, you probably also don't have petri dishes, a flowhood or good glovebox, surgical masks and gloves, scalpels, etc., that are all important for agar isolations. Get your supplies together first.
Everyone with a nickel and a ruler has a scale. Balance a ruler over a fulcrum at the 6" mark, and place a nickel at the 11" mark and your powder at the 1" mark. When it balances, you have 5 grams of product.

Eye Balled it last night, good chance it wo't work but I can always get more supplies. Ordered a scale last night too.
Any idea on the favor injector to suck up my LC? IF I wrap the injector in tin foil and pc it will it melt?
