Fruiting These Mycobags

Hey Shroomers!
I wanted to get some info from you guys if I could. I talked a buddy of mine into getting some mycobags and wow they worked. He has a mushie in there that just broke it's veil this morning and he gave me a call. Turns out, most of the mushies in there clustered at the edges of the bag and left the top portion mostly uncovered. They have wound around the bag and he doesn't know if they're aborting or what, but they seem squished and restricted maybe, but there are a few nice ones that found air just recently.
So, I read on here that you should fruit when you see veils, as to not comprimise the floor of the myc, but, even with just a couple veils broken should he clean the whole thing out and re-wrap it in more tinfoil to try and make the next flush more powerful and more upward? Should he wait until as many as he can get to finish growing? He doesn't want to waste the myc's energy on ones that aren't maturing, tho some are... it's a tough posistion. They've been growing for about a week now I suppose, what's the next step? Also, what would be the best procedure to fruiting them out of the bag?
Thanks again, and sorry for the bombardment

One it's that colonized, he might as well just take it out of the bag, hose it, drop a bunch of vermiculite on it, wet it again, and stick it in a monotub with 5 inches of drenched and strained perlite. That's what my friend did with his mycobag and it worked great.
He COULD have just cut holes in the mycobag to allow the shrooms to pop out once they started pinning, but it seems a little late for that now as I'm not sure if constricted mushrooms like that can find their way out of the bag at this point.. Try the first suggestion.
If you don't know what a monotub is, it's just a clear plastic storage bin with holes cut in the side, and then stuffed with polyfil to allow air exchange, but keep moisture in and contaminants out. Once it's in the bin, just sit it by a window out of direct sunlight, fan and mist the tub 3 times a day, minimum.

Thanks for the input, he was going to wait to do the chamber and incubator for the next few rounds as this was a trial run but he definately see's the need to go ahead and do it right the first time here. I'll try to talk him into getting all the equipment today.
Would he pick it clean before he did all this? Meaning all the growth be it little or big off and try to get it to start all over?

Well, I wouldn't pick them unless their veils have broken, the cubes I grew didn't seem to lose any potency though, even though the caps opened.. Little shrooms are just as potent as the big ones as well, as potency in mushrooms is genetic, he can pick them if he likes, or if he wants to grow them for aesthetic reasons though, he can let them grow.. I typically pick mine, though, when they reach the length of my index finger.. Some viels break before that though, but those shrooms are just as good as any.
Hope that helps. =)

The re-casing idea is very helpful w/ mycobags. Soaked vermicultie works wonders. Sometimes even a spritz or injection (into the injector port) w/ distilled or sterile water will help to rejuvenate the flushes.
The mushy's are not bias towards growing around the substrate. I've seen many bags do this. It's odd because this usually happens with larger bag environments, such as the 6lb bag, but just clean out all of the mushy's and try for your next flush. Remember to remove all remains of mushy's or they will begin to rot and cause contamination within the bag.
Even when the bag is all flushed-out, you can still try moving the spent substrate outdoors. There R several outdoor cultivation tek's on here that work very well./
Good luck.
And personally I'd stay away from the 6lb mycobags. They are not really good for fruiting....more of a transfer for substrate than anything.

Well.. how important is getting every lil one? Some were missed but could grow I suppose. Let's talk about the safety of eating fresh
Like, you have to see there were like 1,000 lil ones starting below the line, tried to grab them all but it's a hard operation.
Plus, there's like these lil threads in there.. ok? Weird but it's not like the cobweb but maybe it's roots. I dunno, but it's all eaten sowe'll see. wish us luck!!
