 what's this growing on a mushroom?

a friend sent this pic over wondering what is was growing on his shroom. any ideas? it's been there since it started pinned, or very soon after. almost looks like a different shroom growing out of it. thanks

Just a mutation, I've seen it a handful of times as well, nothing to worry about. See?
