 Opium Secreting Mushrooms

I was having a conversation the other day with a coworker and he was telling me that a friend of his was once growing a strain which secreted opium out the top of the caps.
From what I know about biology, this does not seem possible at all. How would shrooms be able to produce opioids from poppy plants which only produce opium during pod development or something.
Anyone ever heard of opium secreting mushrooms?

i haven't. and they definitely weren't cubes, if they even exist at all, which i doubt

You would have to do some major Gene splicing but if your friends friend is a genetic engineneer then sure it is possible.
