Is poo the way forward?

I am currently using Brown rice flour PF-Tek cakes to produce our shroomy friends, but now i want to step up a gear from dunk n roll and vermiculite casing, and increase my yields. What are the best alternatives other than poo? And how much will poo increase yields by?

coco coir teks and grow logs are available in abundance if you don't wanna use poo, and they are quite effective.

Poo will increase yields substantially - you're going to be mixing your cakes into another nutritious medium, in this case poo, and once it fully colonizes it'll be using this rich substrate to produce many more fruits than a cake alone. Properly prepped coir can almost do as well.
Here's a couple threads I found interesting:

I'm currently struggling to dry 2.5kgs pulled from the first flushes of 2 monotubs. It's a nice problem to have!

well, if your wanting to step up from cakes i would leave them behind altogether and just go to grain jars, they take way less time than cakes to fully colonize, and are more versatile...

i would think not, the crap should come from an animal that eats a lot of grain or vegetation, unless your dog eats grass all day.
horse poo is the best, then probably chicken manure, then cattle manure....

Easy transition, and well worth it. Just chuck those BRF cakes into a clean blender and mix the remains with pasteurized horse poo. This is my preferred method as I have had bad luck with grain and contaminants. BRF cakes colonize fast and one half-pint jar can colonize twice its mass in poo in a few days. Do it, poo it.
And dog poo? Not only is it full of contaminants, but the mushrooms you want to grow only grow on grass-lover's poo (horse, cow, elephant, hippo, kangaroo, etc).

okay, now you're just being lazy. Use that search function up in the top right! Enter: Monotub...and read Enter: Coir...and read.
