 Neat myc growth in PF jar, different "types" of growth

I'm sure you guys and girls that have experience have noticed this, but it's pretty cool.
One of my "Z" jars was a slow starter. I think that was because it was the first jar I shot up and hadn't shaken the syringe enough.
Anyway, it finally started growing in a couple spots when the others were at ~30%.
After 3 days, it's still slower than others have been, but I notice different things going on in different spots.
One spot is real "thin" mycelial growth.
One is very uniform and circular, with silky, uniform "strands" radiating out in a circle.
Another is similar to the above, but with an aggressive rizomorphic growth from the exact center.
Yet another went rhizo-crazy, barely wasting time before going all ropey.
Yet another spot is thin growth in the middle, but on the outside of that circle of growth, it formed a "ring" of more robust growth.
I was all like "omg wow dood lolz" and stuff. 
My roommates were less impressed, because they aren't geeks. Too bad I can't share with the geeks I know locally "hey, some guy I know grew this, check it out," so I figure I'd share with you folks.
I was going to photograph it yesterday, but camera batts needed charged and then we had a jam session that turned into a drinking binge. Batts are charging, and I'll try and get decent pics. (Damn I wish I could do color slides on the down-low...I've got a killer Nikon "Micro" lens for psycho macro work)
I'll try to get some pics this afternoon- might be interesting for people to see who ask "is this a contam or myc?"
I was also curious about the genetic implications of this growth...if I had the setup, could I grab the really weird ones and get them going on agar, reproducing their growing patterns in a future inoculation? Are these observations genetically predisposed, or are they more just...random? My other jars of Z and Brazilian are fairly uniform...I can tell the Brazilians are more rhizomorphic and less fuzzy, but as time goes on they look more similar.
I also think it's time to read in more detail about early growth stages...stuff I hadn't bothered with when just learning the teks.
Yeah, I'm more excited about this than I am about my other 23 jars going really well to about 70%.

i find myc growth fascinating as well, and what you are seeing is the result of multispore inoculation, where you have a bunch of genetic individuals competiting for substrate. the agressive ones will develop a better myc network and be better able to support fruit.
if you're into this shit, you should look into doing some agar work. multispore inoculatoins on agar allow you to select the more agressive myc (or whatever trait you want in your myc) and to develop your strain how you want it. look up RR video "let's grow mushrooms" on youtube
