Ola all, a little help needed for my first effort at casing. if u will.
Ive gatherered these itemns ok....vermiculite, crushed oyster shells snd coco coir blocks.HAs anyone used this and can give me a good percentage of how much of each i should b using? IM also gonna get some litmus stips for testing PH of final mix,bear in mind im doin this on small scale only 2 or 3 litre cases per time,any advice always welcome,  i know theres a tek on here for this kinda case, but the quantity are large on therre....

Coco coir may not be the best casing ingredient since it has nutrients in it. The mycelium will colonize is quickly, and aggressively. This will lead to overlay like mine. Now note I only used like 10% coco coir and 90% vermiculite and I still got overlay.

Since you're new to casing, I would not recommend using 50% coir. Chances are it'll colonize too quickly and get out of hands and you'll wind up with overlay. I'd advise you go and pick up a bag of peat moss, then go 45% verm, 45% peat, 5-7.5% coir, and 2.5-5% oyster shells.

I personally have had poor results with verm casing layers, The best I have done is with coir/peat/oyster shells 30%/60%/10%, then I patch it and throw somelight on it be4 it goes into overlay mode. Some sort of force field system that lets nothing in or out.
