Plexiglass top for a styrofoam cooler

I have 3 styraphoam coolers that I use as terrariums, im only using two, on smaller one for four cakes and a bigger one that could fit twelve, but right now only four will be going in it, and a casing. The thing is I bought a plexiglass top because I thought it would be cool, and it was on sale at my job, the thing is, I can see that it isnt airtight because I put a little silicone around the top of the cooler and I can see the gaps between the plexi and the cooler, should I just use the original styrafoam top or is there something I can do to make the plexi fit into the top well?, please any suggestions would be great

use the Plexiglass as a drip shild and yes use the lid and cut a big square in it and silacone a piece of Plexiglass a little bigger then the square to the lid so light can get thru.personaly i would use big ass rubbermaids if i where you but either way will work.good luck bro

I agree thats a good way.
but you dont have to have it airtight. Pretty close to airtight is good too. Just might lose a little humidity(might have to mist the sides. Also if your friuiting you wanty some fresh air in there.
long as you use appropriate clean techniques youj will be fine.
But if your really dont want to use that lid, and your on a budget you could use syran wrap or clear pastic sheeting.
Instead of coverthing the whole with plexi, just glue the sheeting or syran wrap (i would use a hotglue gun for this application) over the hole.

Ive always had great success with styraphoam coolers, but I thought the plexi top would work, but it isnt, Ill just use the original top with a hole in it, should work just as good, Ill find something to use the plexi for
