 Sterilize With Amoxicillin?

Just wondering, if I need to steriliza an area, would Amoxicillin work? It's an antibiotic.. Just curious

Are you talking agar plates here? I guess so. Wikipedia says its ok. So yes you can.

I admit I far from an expert on these issues, but doesn't common sense say that it won't? Antibiotics will kill bacteria (although for sterilization antibiotics are overkill), but won't (as far as I know) do anything to mold or mold spores.
For sterilization a mild solution of bleach would be much cheaper, more environmentally sound and much more effective.

I'm pretty sure I have a Bacillus contam.. Bacillus is a bacteria.

no, it will work with agar if it's added to the media prior to sterilizing the
media but it will not be effective for sterilizing anything, it's an antibiotic
and it's simply not the function of the med. also, if added to the agar media
heat will break it wown but it will still hold some effectiveness
