So a TN-panel with true 8-bit color. Do they exist?

These particular panels, with 6 bits per color channel as opposed to 8, can approach 24-bit color using a dithering method which combines adjacent pixels to simulate the desired shade.

Reason I'm asking, I saw a spec for a TN-panel TFT monitor claiming it utilized true 8-bit, and I can't find specs or any other info that backs that statement

I would be skeptical. I've seen some clever marketing that makes it sound like 6-bit is 8-bit. I've also seen outright lies/mistakes by manufacturers. I suspect that if Phillips/LG or Samsung came out with an 8-bit TN panel, it would be pretty big news. I haven't heard anything of the nature, but I don't follow the LCD industry very closely.
