 beat place to get a macbook pro?

So I'm in serious need of a new computer (laptop) and I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch to the dark side and get a macbook pro. I've never really messed around with macs before but my room mate has a macbook pro that is the shit and I think I'm going to take the plunge.
Apple has a pretty good stundent discount going right now and you get a free ipod so that may be the way to go, but I was just curious if the mac users had any other good sites to check out? Like I said I'm a long time PC user so I'm not really in the know on what the good mac sites are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm lookin to keep it around the $2500 price range.

I recently went to the dark side and I love it
For a new macbook though I would go to the apple store or get one online
BTW The free ipod is through a mail in rebate, you still have to front the money

Sweet Jesus, $2500 for a laptop?!? I didnt even know they went that high... It better have a fucking quantum computing chip or something

i bought the $2000 dollar model, with a 200 dollar discount. I decided the extra .2Ghz and ram is much cheaper than 500 more dollars. In the end it was $1799 with the student discount.
It works great, and definitely a better build then any other laptop I've ever owned/sold. I worked in an office max for a long time. It would trump any HP, Dell, Compaq, Acer, Averatec, or toshiba laptop, as I have seen lots of them (minus dell, but a few friends have them) as far as build quality goes, they just feel solid. Even an hp that was 2199 felt cheap.
IF you were getting a laptop I would definitely recommend a PC with a linux distro on it, but for laptops, the quality of the macbook pro cannot be matched easily.

thanks for info guys... so is the apple store the way to go? I couldn't really find any places that had discount prices on macs like I could for PC's, does apple have strict control over pricing?
Also any mac exclusive programs I may not know about that you guys could recomend would be appreciated.

If you buy it at the apple store you can get a good warranty on it. But the prices
