Laogai: The Chinese Gulags

Not many people know about these prisons turned into factories, but they are similar to Nazi concentration camps or Soviet gulags:
Basically, they're a secret network of prison labor camps where more than 10 million Chinese, many of whom can be classified as political prisoners, are forced to labor in factories, mines, and agricultural plantations, producing goods that enhance the China's economic viability. It is estimated that 50 million chinese have been in these prisons since the communists came to power in 1949, and that 20 million men and women have died there.
Those incarcerated in these labor camps are made up of two groups of people—criminals and the largest group of inmates, who are dissidents, such as members of underground Christian churches, Falun Gong practitioners, and democracy or free speech advocates.
Laogai prisoners are often forced to work extremely long hours, deprived of sleep and forced to take on a highly intensive workload.Reports of torture are common and include beatings with fists and cattle prods, exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat, sleep deprivation, shackling and starvation.
The prison facilities often have two names: a prison name and a commercial enterprise name. The products of forced labor are marketed for export under the commercial name.
Laogai prisoners produce stuffed animals, tools, textiles, rubber boots, plastic flowers, asbestos, tea, rubber balls for a well known sports label, knitted sweaters, cushions, plastic syringes, sanitized chopsticks, posters, and printed packaging. It is reported that over 200 different products made in Laogai are exported to countries such as the USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil and Japan.

Approximately 1,000 Chinese forced-labor camps hold the 10 million prisoners. Here are there locations:
The laogai remains one of the CCP's most important instruments of political control. Needless to say, many of these laogai prisoners are political detainees from Tibet. And needless to say as well, those Chinese who are receiving terms in labor camps are denied access to a lawyer and have no court hearing.

I posted a article earlier on how China was using Falun Gong and political dissidents as organ farms, and by forcibly procuring organs for purchase by wealthy people.
