Ports and grass seed; another failure?
    #8364030 - 05/05/08 04:49 AM (6 months, 13 days ago)

What the hell am I doing wrong????
Day 7 of 6 pint jars of grass seed soaked for 24 hours and PC'd @ 15psi for 90 min.
Knocked up with an LC of Torks, incubating at 82 degrees. NO signs of LIFE!!!!
This is the second failure for this strain. Last one was with WBS.

Suggestions please...

82 is too hot. Most of the species of agaricus that are cultivated prefer temperatures in the 72-74 range for incubation. I'd think those would as well. Is that a Sporeworks strain?

Yes, and it's supposed to be a warm weather strain, hence the warm coloniztion temps.
check it out

Oh, I didn't realize they had that.

Maybe you should shoot Workman a pm so he catches this thread and can give you some advice on it.

If its a spore works culture, I'd suggest asking for a replacement. It is a slow starter so it may be just lagging but it sounds more like a bad syringe. Don't give up hope yet.

i had to leave my jars sit for 1-2 months after shooting them up to finally see growth, after I finally seen growth they took off vary similar to others, might have been some bacteria contamination in there

anyways if you wait i bet you will see growth eventually then just transfer to agar or w/e

I have experienced the same thing. Its leapoff lag. Agaricus seems to have a hard time when the substrate is changed. We may need to alter the liquid media to match the most commonly used substrates.
