 what kind of edible mushroom should i grow?

so ive grown cubes for about 4 months now but im about to be on probation so i have stopped growing cubes and now im wanting to grow some type of legal edible mushroom...i want something that i could grow with a basic PF tek style setup and if possible be grown on BRF/verm cakes...i am looking for something i could batter and fry or maybe even throw in a recipe...any suggestions?

because im going to be on probation soon and idk how it is where ur from but here if ur on probation for drugs they come and search your house occasionally

I've heard that shitakes do well in brf mixed with bran and/or wood chips

Just use oysters. (Pleurotus ostreatus)
You'll find that they are easy to grow and taste great.

Growing any edibles on pf cakes is just tedious.
The cakes are too small and you need many, many to get the kind of yield to be enough for a meal.

Very true.
While many edibles will grow on pf cakes, it should be considered a novelty grow for educational purposes, not a way to get food. Pf cakes can make excellent spawn to bulk, such as straw or sawdust-woodchips however.
