hey, i just wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good, cheap, thing that i can plug my guitar into and record stuff with. all i have now is a crappy cord that plugs into my microphone jack, and it sucks ass. also, i dont want anything too expensive. i was looking at stuff online, like the line 6 tone port, but i would appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have.

thanks guys!

Heh, good and cheap are mutually exclusive.

There really isn't a good electric guitar computer interface, they all suck compared to a mic-ed ampeg or marshal cab.

You will get a much better sound from a general audio interface like an M-Box, with a line-in from an actual amp or amp modeler like the Line6 Pod.

Catalysts to say what has never been said, to see what has never been seen. To draw, paint, sing, sculpt, dance and act what has never before been done. To push the envelope of creativity and language. And whats really important is, I call it, the felt presence of direct experience. Which is a fancy term which just simply means we have to stop consuming our culture. We have to create culture. Don't watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time, where you are now, is the most immediate sector of your universe. And if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, you are disempowered. You are giving it all away to icons. Icons which are maintained by an electronic media, so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion. And what is real is you and your friends, your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, and your fears. And we are told no. We're unimportant, we're peripheral, get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that, and then you're a player. You don't even want to play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world. Where is that at? -Terence

I use a Tascam US-122 usb interface. Its got two 1/4 inch inputs and 2 xlr inputs. Easy to set up and easy to use.

I used to mic my amp to record guitar tracks but this is way easier and it pics up all the tone whereas I had to fiddle with mis placement to get the most of it.

But remember, this only sounds good if you run your guitar through your amp, then patch the amp's headphone output to the US-122.

Check out my post to hear the tone I get from it.

The tascam is decent interface. If you wanna spluge, the M-Audio interface with Pro Tools is quite sweet. ProTools is professional quality. And the M-Audio package is pretty cheap on E-bay.

I like the presonus inspire by firewire, it's got everything I need and a little more except for optical inputs, but that'd just be the shit.
