These guys are UNBELIEVABLE.......surreal, haunting, ethereal, enlightening, unique..you've never heard anything like it.
What I love about their music is that even though I don't understand a word of it....I can make sense in my own head of it. NOW, it may be that they are singing about something completely different, but it doesn't matter.....way cool stuff. Love the guitar being played with a violin bow.

I have seen the video for Svefn-G-Englar...very good!
They are supposed to be on Reverb with Bjork soon. I don't really like her, but she did some cool stuff with piercing her back in a corset type style to prove her love for a man...kinda crazy and groovy

~K~

It's kind of new-age-y. But it isn't so bad. And
he plays his guitar with a bow! A bow! He bows
his guitar!

You should try to listen to Mogwai and Godspeed
You Black Emperor! now. Maybe. You might like
them.

Well I know probably as much as you do, they are from Iceland and they started up I think about 4yrs ago now....

My roomate knows one of the band members, but I don't know any of them personally...

They sing in Icelandic, but mostly what he sings is actually not any language at all, he calls it hopelandish... Its very unique, and it sounds so very cool..

Sigur Ros is doing very well in Europe, but they haven't really gotten enough attention yet in North America. They did manage to get onto the soundtrack for Vanilla Sky, basicly the director or producer heard sigur ros and insisted he get them on the soundtrack.

Sigur Ros also performed on Kilborn a while back, so obviously they are slowly gaining attention in North America. The critics all highly praise sigur ros, I am betting in 5 years time they will be a world famous band.... That is if people have any taste

I'd recommend checking out www.sigur-ros.com, they have some video stuff there to check out.... I have also the Kilborn video, and a bunch of other stuff, if anyone wants any videos let me know and I'll try to set them up on my FTP....

I have been listening to Sigur Ros for about 3 months now. I like them more and more everytime i listen to them. To me, they kind of take soem of the more "out there" music form Kid A(Radiohead) even farther. Very chill, good to sit back and reflect on the previous days events. Olsen- Olsen, and Avalon are two of my personal favorites by them. They actually make up words as they sing, its called hopelandic, very cool. Good listen.
