I see your point. but from a philosophical point of view. is nothing not something?

You can go there but mind has to be left behind.

In order to understand nothing, become nothing. Our egos since childhood are taught we must be something and see nothingness as death so our thoughts run away in fear. Destroy all thoughts and you will find it all, thoughts can only be about objects, stayas pure subjectivity devoid of interest & interpretation.
You are aware of big bang, which means you are before it.

Like everything flying away from a central point?
Or energy still echoing about from a massive explosion?

Why do you say there was nothing? Nothing isn't a thing, it can't exist, it can't be there already.
"Was" implies that time existed before space. I wasn't there myself but I would guess they began simultaneously.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. -- `Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' -- Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.

Well I dont know where you get that... but no, that is the not big bang theory.
-------------------- Behold yon miserable creature. That Point is a Being like ourselves, but confined to the non-dimensional Gulf. He is himself his own World, his own Universe; of any other than himself he can form no conception; he knows not Length, nor Breadth, nor Height, for he has had no experience of them; he has no cognizance even of the number Two; nor has he a thought of Plurality; for he is himself his One and All, being really Nothing. Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn his lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy.

The theory of the big bang only begins to be a solid theory a couple nano seconds into the whole ordeal.
I asked my physics prof (he does theoretical physicals/cosmology and all that cool stuff) what happened in the first nano seconds of the big bang and the answer is no one knows. The big bang should be considered the theory of the expansion of the universe, not the creation.

OK, fair enough! You got me on a technicality!
But we do see galaxies all moving outward... I suppose after billions and billions of years, it's pinballed all over and the center is impossible to infer.
My theory is that eventually, it will all collapse back into the original hunk of everything... only to explode anew!

The Big Bang has no center. It is not an explosion radiating from a point. In an explosion you get an expanding spherical shell of fragments as shown below:

Here's what it "looks" like, but the fact that everything seems to be 'expanding' is clear.
