Socrates is widely considered to be the father of western thought, for more than anyone else Socrates made the people aware and thus ashamed of their own ignorance.

Socrates had some interesting thoughts, even thought most here probably do not agree with his views on bodily desires including drugs. But maybe it's the time we live in, modern life has become so unnatural that without some kind of "soma" most probably couldn't remain sane and functional.

What's all this talk of abstinence? Socrates loved wine and sex, as well as taking part in the Eleusian mysteries.
Interesting find, though. Thanks for sharing.
