i gotta admit. im a lil scared to try mushrooms. but excited at the same time. never tripped before...well except off ambien! but i hear its nothing like mushies. so how much should i take? im 64 230lbs

Well, you're right. Nothing like Ambien  Which is a good thing. Don't be afraid. And even more importantly, don't be afraid of a bad trip. Know you're going to have a great time with (hopefully) your friends. And then ride it, I hope you have a great experience.
I like a good 5g dose, for a first time you might try just 2g, or double dose 4, 2g here, 2g there. Anyways, I don't advocate the 'test the waters'...I give best friends of mine 5g first dose, and he had a breakthrough his first real trip. Before then he had bought 1 and 2g, and wasn't to thrilled with shrooms. Didn't 'really' even trip.
But, it's how far do you want to go your first time - when is the next time you would do it again? Are you wanting to really get something out of it, or do you want try to see what the fuss is about. Though, I say, if you try the low dose, most people don't actually see what it is about, and think they 'get it' from that point. Until they take more *shrugs*

well the first time i wanna do a smaller dose, and be by myself in my studio (i spin drum n bass music) and just enjoy that. and then im down to try it again and again. my friends wanna take a camping trip ... no pun intended
so i just wanted to do a smaller dose alone so when im with them i dont freak out and embarass myself.

lol, to me you're doing it backwards. Camp, then spin. I hear you, I love music, and playing it live, tripping. Which is why acoustics kick ass...camp on 
But, if you're going to do what you're wanting to do...Being alone first time tripping, could go weird, or good. Always depends on the person. I don't know your daily mindset. But, say if you wanna get into it, 2-3g should be cool. But, being alone, you might want some company. Do you plan to spin for hours and hours? :P Just wondering. Bass is amazing on shrooms. Have fun

I would say the most common dose is 3.5g. Which for most people should produce a decent trip, you will get a good look at what shrooms are like. If you want to take it a bit slower i recommend 1.7g. Another idea is taking 1.7g, crush up shrooms well, mix with lemon juice in a shot, let soak for a little bit then slam it. The lemon juice tek will make the effects come on a bit quicker and will intensify the 1.7g's effects, but the trip will not last as long as it would by eating them. And you could always get 3.5g, take a 1.7g lemon shot, feel it out for a bit, then decide on another.

Do 2 grams. You will have your mind blown, and the thought of a bad trip will never even enter you so long as you are in a secure environment. I would suggest in nature, but that's just me.
Just keep the vibes good and the rest will take care of itself.

Stick with a small dose.You dont know the potency,and so if it hits you hard you probably wont know how to deal with it.Ive got a few friends who wont do it again cause me being unexperienced, I dosed them to high and scared the crap outa them.So start small.Ive found more and more that I enjoy being alone,for a meditational spiritual trip,but with trusted friends,it can be a very bonding time.But dont worry about being nervous.Ive dosed dozens of times,and I still get nervous before each time.I like to take a few shots to calm my nerves then I slowly sink into euforia.

I say dose at about 2g for your first time, you might as well be a bit on the safe side since you wont even have a trip sitter.

i have an incredibly low tolerance, and can get visuals off of 2.1g, or maybe even less. but i suggest starting high, but not too high, whatever that may mean to you.

and hell yes i plan on mixing for hours and hours. thats what i do sober anyway

Dont listen to me, but I firmly believ that the best and only way to meet the experience for the first time is to hero dose and go for total neurological reset.
Mckenna recommends 5 in silent darkness.
I recommend getting your shit straight first.
Potentially, they can wipe your brain slate clean. I Like doing first time things, the best time, first time. Im told that small doses, few or many can never tuyl prapare you for your first annihilation. Annihilation, is annihilation. There is no 'nearly' obliterated! haha. lol. Sadly, I didnt get to- come down naturallyI lost discipline, broke all the rules and got locked up. I becokned madness and it merrily came.
This is just my opinion, but im presenlty rewriting my history they way it 'should' have happened.
Instead of surviing a 1 night trial, my trip was artifically cut short with meds and resulted in a 6momnths psychosis.
2 nights ago, I sealed the wound with my second breakthrough dose of 6.5g dried subs in silent darkness with my g.f. All that I have done done wrong, twice, I am explcitily re-scripting for further journeys. down to every last detail.
something about 'polarities'.. all.. and nothing.. light and dark.. space and time, means that it teaches us about extremes, in an extreme fashiion. I have no idea if that is how others feel, or if it is simply me.
To get to heaven, mushrooms seem to have to put me through hell first.

I would not recommend a big dose, you don't know how you react, your sensitivity, etc.

id go with an eighth... just dive in...
then again, the others are right about sensativity... some people can be more sensative... if you wanna be more careful about it then test out how you feel on 1 or 2 grams and then the next time go for a higher dose.

yeah because i used to smoke green for 5 years and could always get super high off one bowl. lol so ill start at 1.5 or 2 g's
