This is an interesting question with a interesting set of answers...
YES AND NO!
you can have such a life altering experience
that you may find it personally impossible to ever go back to your
normal way of life. This is not a bad thing.
In one hand, you will always come down from
your trip. That's something you can count on! There is no chemical way
for you to just "keep" tripping, its just not possible. Your body will
metabolize the drug fully and no traces of it will remain in your
system after 2-4 days due to it's relatively short halflife in the
body.
On the other hand, many people do have
after-effects from doses of mushrooms, some call it the "afterglow",
but that can be a bit misleading. Extended high dosages may prompt some
cognitive impairment and HPPD(Hallucinogen
Persisting Perceptual Disorder) and possibly some emotional liability
due to effects on the Serotonin system. Usually temporary these fade
with cessation of use over a period of a few months.
Depending on your frame of mind, the questions
you might have asked yourself while tripping, how focused you are on
trivial things, how focused you are on the present, you can either feel
euphoric, like youve accomplished something, or you may feel depressed,
like you aren't as far along your path as you should be.
The latter (depressed) situation isn't really
a horrible thing in itself, it just means you need to take a look at
the way in which you are leading your life and probably make some
lifestyle changes for the better... Rather than seeking medication to
immediately "fix" your brain, attempt to work through the cause of the
feelings. Your depression, albiet temporary, has occured for a reason
and shrugging it off will take far more energy than applying what
knowledge you have and integrating what you have learned into the way
you live.
I always think of mushrooms as one of the
greatest psychotherapy tools available to mankind! The ability to
change is already rests within you, but the ability to know WHAT to
change is a lot harder to decipher! Mushrooms will give you the
answers, it's up to you to figure out the questions :)
