I noticed that the mushrooms that were growing were short in length, "fat asses"
as
PF puts it, and that they grow pointing in all directions. I also know that
a. cubensis is a photo-tropic mushroom, and
b. most people, myself included use a hard plastic or styrofoam cooler that is
usually all white on the inside.
So, I figured that the my mushroom friends were confused because
everything around them is white and reflecting light, and thus not letting them
know which way is up! What I did is paint the entire inside of my cooler flat
black, except for the clear plexiglass top obviously. Now, all of my friends
grow nice, tall, and organized pointing up towards the light. Maybe not
everyone wants this, but it helps when you go to pick them and they're all
pointing in the same direction.
