All of the woodloving species follow essentially the same cultivation requirements. Basically, a grain spawn is prepared, pasteurized or sterilized woodchips are inoculated with this grain spawn indoors, and then the colonized woodchips are used to inoculate an outdoor woodchips bed located in a shady spot in spring. The bed is kept moist throughout the summer, and in september-december a fruiting occurs.
