A method for insuring the eradication of unwanted bacteria and foreign spores. Good pre-sterilization method.
When sterilizing your canning jars a good idea is to to soak them in a pot filled with water and about 7 tablespoons of bleach for 1-3 hours (I prefer 3 hours just to be on the safe side but 1 should be fine). Make sure you rinse the jars thoroughly after soaking to get all the bleach off or else the bleach will kill your spores. Whenever I use this my jars don't get contamination so I recommend it.
