Can I sterilize PF jars in my microwave?

People have reported variable success sterilizing jars prepared according to the PF -Tek in the microwave.

People have reported variable success sterilizing jars prepared according to the PF -Tek in the microwave. The sterilization time is from 7 -10 minutes on high and the jars must sit in a water bath to prevent excessive evaporation of the water from the substrate. The initial water content in the substrate will have to be higher due to the evaporation of water in the microwave. Since there are som many different types of microwave ovens around it's very hard to give explicit directions on cooking time and and other parameters.
Conclusion: Although not completely impossible in the microwave, sterilization in a pressure cooker or a pot with lid is highly recommended over sterilization in the microwave and much more reliable.
