Perlite: Too Much Humidity?

Could it be?

I use the perlite technique in my 55 gal aquarium. The problem is not too little humidity, it is too much... When we are in the fruiting stage, doesn't the H need to be 87-92%? My Aq. always stands at 98%--always.

So to me this is a problem. The last set of cakes I had (the first try of perlite) I kept on the lids for 2-3 flushes, and then put them on the perlite. I had a bounty of the "fat-asses" growing and only a few "regular" size normal ones growing...My temp has always been in the low 80's, and now in the high 70's (winter coming). I had to open the top to let out excess H to keep it around 90%. It seemed to work ok, after I figured out how much to crack the lid...

So, have you heard of this concern, or am I overreacting? Pengo ;^)
