plastic wrap
Vermiculite
1/4 cup measuring cup
a bowl
and a colonized pint of WBS

OK Lets start.

First you take the top off of the CDR spindle and turn it upside down

Next you want to use the ducktape and cover 3" of the bottom of the spindle

This works out to be a layer starting at the bottom with a second layer 1/2 over the first. (2" wide ducktape)

Don't forget to cover the bottom of the spindle we do not want any light getting in!

Take the bottle of alcohol and spray and clean the inside of the spindle. Make sure to get the dust out of it.

Now we take our jar of WBS , our spindle, and our sterile spoon and get ready to make our casing.

I am using a dental spoon which has been sterilized on an autoclave bag. You can use a normal spoon that is wrapped in aluminum foil and PC'd for 15 min at 15psi

Now we want to prep our casing material. I am using Vermiculite. I measure 1 cup of vermiculite and 1/4 cup of distilled water.

Mix them in a bowl.

Some people will microwave or pasteurize the vermiculite. I have not found it necessary.

Now open your spoon and your jar of WBS and Spoon your WBS into your spindle top.

Once it is spooned into the spindle you will notice that there is a 1/2" space between the top of the WBS and the top of the tape.

Now add your vermiculite to bring it up to the tape line. When you are done it should look like this

Next you want to spray a little distilled water around the sides of the spindle. This will help keep the humidity up inside the spindle.

Once done simply cover the spindle with plastic wrap.

Now you will need to open it up 3 times a day. You will need to fan and mist the casing to keep the humidity up. After 2 weeks you have some nice mushrooms ready to pick!

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did
